WORK TRIPS
OAKVILLE FLOOD RELIEF TRIP
In October of 2009 Grace Church sent a mission team to Oakville Iowa to help with flood relief. Team members were sent off from the 8:30 a.m. worship service on October 4th and returned late on Friday, October 9th. Team members helped complete repairs on homes that were damaged by the floods.
The Oakville United Methodist Church served as the Team's headquarters for lodging and meals. Team members included Sherwin Back, Jim Clark, Fred Helmich, Aaron Jacobsen, Alan Jacobsen, Evelyn Nester, Bill Schwarz, Jane Schwarz and Rev. Harold Werley. Rev. Harold Werley served as Team leader. Rev. Werley had earlier served as pastor of the Oakville United Methodist Church which made this trip especially appropriate for his leadership.

COMMUNION VISITOR FOR HOMEBOUND MEMBERS
Each first Sunday our worship includes the sacrament of Holy Communion. We also share Holy Communion with those who are homebound, ill or similarly not able to be with us. Portable communion kits, prepared prior to the worship, are placed on the altar table and blessed along with the other communion elements. Following the service, a lay Communion Visitor takes a portable kit and a brief, easy-to-follow guide to use during their visit. Like a visit or to be a Visitor? Contact church office at 276-3452.

GRACE CAREGIVERS
A group of Grace members regularly and faithfully call on people in nursing homes, assisted living or independent living homes and shut-ins. A flower or plant is delivered to members of our church who have lost a family member and our church does not have the funeral. The birth of a baby is celebrated by a flower on the alter which is then delivered to the family. Telephone calls are made to people who have been hospitalized. Delores Livengood takes care of the care corner cards which members of the congregation sign each week and are then sent to the individuals. Jane Sibley sends birthday cards to those whose birthdays we know. Lillian Dickens makes gifts for us to take to those we call on at Christmas. Other members of this group include Bob Brady, Mary Croston, Alice Gross, Pat Haddad, Judy Ritchison, Betty Watkins and Ginny Weikert. If you would like to help in any of these areas contact Pastor Valerie, 276-3452 or Alice Gross, 276-6546
