Jeff's previous church work experiences include Children's and Youth Ministries at First United Methodist Church of Aberdeen, South Dakota; Sunnycrest United Methodist Church of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and currently Director of Youth and Young Adults at First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Jeff was elected “State Youth of the Year” in 1997 from the Boys and Girls Club; has served as a camp counselor and camp dean at Wesley Acres Camp in Dazey, North Dakota; has organized various youth and mission trips; has organized district and state youth rallies for the Dakotas Conference; was active with the Boys and Girls Club of Aberdeen; was selected as the keynote speaker for the Dakotas Conference Youth Rallies (twice) in 1998 and 1999; and has organized various outreach programs including Habitat for Humanity. Jeff has also been active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Jeff obtained his double major in Religion and Philosophy, with a minor in Christian and Youth Ministries from Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota. He is currently seeking a certification in Youth and Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary's Institution for Youth Ministry.

Jeff's interests include working with children and youth; playing basketball, listening to music (mostly Christian and Motown), drawing and writing poetry.

Jeff and his wife Holly will be moving to Sioux City early in July. Watch for upcoming details regarding plans to welcome the Vance's to Grace Church.

   

Jeff Vance - Director of Discipleship and Youth

The Staff Parish Relations Committee is pleased to announce that Jeff Vance of Lincoln, Nebraska, has been offered, and has accepted the position of Director of Discipleship and Youth Ministries at Grace Church. Jeff's name was submitted to the SPRC with unanimous support of the Search Committee. Jeff was one of over 50 applicants.

Jeff's duties at Grace Church will include leading Grace Church in its design and implementation of a Sunday morning program of discipleship formation for all ages. He will lead our middle school and high school youth ministries. He will design and lead a variety of youth-oriented experiences aimed at leading youth into Christian discipleship, outreach, and service. He will develop an integrated plan and curriculum/resources for classes, small groups, retreats, and discipleship opportunities.

Jeff will provide leadership in Grace Church's enlistment and support of volunteer teachers, youth leaders and group leaders. Jeff will lead Grace Church's Confirmation program for 8th graders. He will provide support for families in their ministry of Christian parenting.

Those of us who have had the opportunity to meet Jeff all agree that he will bring a new sense of excitement, energy, and enthusiasm to Grace Church.
